Dr. Ruth D. Carlitz and Dr. Gabriela Alberola lead this stream of work, which engages at the global level and seeks to explain what drives the mobilization of and alignment of international climate finance with recipient country priorities.
Global Analysis of Climate Finance Mobilization and Alignment
ClimateFiGS understands ‘mobilization’ encompasses both the funds that Global South leaders demand, and the actual climate finance supplied through public and private sources. The project also investigates the relative priority climate finance providers and recipients place on adaptation (dealing with the risks posed by climate change today) vs. mitigation (avoiding worse risks in the future). We study the alignment of international climate finance with recipient priorities expressed in national climate action plans, and also examine how well those plans align with citizen priorities.
