This stream of work comprises three subprojects, which aim to follow the money within three African countries, and explain what accounts for the decisions and influences driving patterns of allocation.
Tracking Climate Finance within Countries
Dr. Ruth D. Carlitz and Dr. Gabriela Alberola lead the first subproject, which tracks the allocation and expenditure of climate finance within three African countries, looking at which sectors and districts are targeted, and the extent to which financial allocations respond to local needs.
ClimateFiGS PhDs Wangui Kagumba and Tendai Kasinganeti lead two additional subprojects that leverage quantitative and qualitative approaches to understand why funds have been allocated and spent as they have, and more generally, what drives decisions about climate finance within recipient countries.
